Who we are
MyTechExplorer is developed by Safwan Srij. For any privacy question, or to exercise a request described on this page, contact support@mytechexplorer.app.
Overview
This page describes exactly what MyTechExplorer does with your information — covering both anonymous use and use with a real account. It reflects what MyTechExplorer's system actually stores, not more and not less.
Using MyTechExplorer without an account
MyTechExplorer works fully without creating an account. In that mode, nothing you do leaves your device: your Tech DNA result, saved careers, path progress, tried Career Sims, onboarding answers, and notification preferences are stored only in this browser's local storage.
None of it is sent to a server, none of it syncs across devices, and all of it disappears if you clear this site's browsing data — or you can clear it yourself at any time from Settings → Delete account.
Creating an account
Creating an account lets your progress follow you across devices. Signing up requires an email address and a password. MyTechExplorer's authentication provider, Supabase, stores your password in hashed form — MyTechExplorer never has access to it as plain text. A confirmed email address is required before you can sign in.
What's stored once you're signed in
Once you're signed in, the same data that otherwise stays local instead lives on MyTechExplorer's server (hosted on Supabase), tied to your account: your onboarding answers (current stage, study level, goals), your Tech DNA answers and result, your saved careers, your active career path and its progress, and any Career Sims you've tried.
Database-level access rules (row-level security) enforced by Postgres itself ensure only you can read or change this data — not other MyTechExplorer users, and not anything outside what's needed to run the product. Your device also keeps a local copy of this same data for fast loading; it stays in sync with the server and is never the only copy that exists.
MyTech AI
MyTech AI is an optional in-app assistant available to signed-in users, limited to 15 questions per day. It's built on OpenAI: when you send a message, the text you type is sent to OpenAI to generate a reply. A small amount of your MyTechExplorer activity is also sent along, so the answer is relevant to you — specifically: your Tech DNA archetype and top dimensions (if you've completed the Tech DNA journey), the names of your saved careers, your active career path, and which page of the app you were on. Your email address, account identifier, raw Tech DNA answers, and your detailed path/sim progress are never sent to OpenAI.
The first time you open MyTech AI, you're shown what's sent and asked to explicitly allow it before your first message goes anywhere — you can decline and simply not use the feature. You can withdraw this permission at any time from Settings → MyTech AI data sharing; doing so stops any new message from being sent until you allow it again, without affecting your account or any other data.
MyTechExplorer does not save your MyTech AI conversations — they exist only in the app on your screen and are gone when you close the conversation or reload the app. OpenAI is called with response storage turned off ("store: false") for the same reason. If you choose to type personal or sensitive information into a message yourself, that text is sent to OpenAI as part of the conversation like anything else you type — MyTechExplorer doesn't ask for this and recommends against it, but can't prevent it, since the message field accepts whatever you write.
Feedback
If you send feedback (Settings → Feedback), MyTechExplorer stores the message you write, the language you were using, and — if you were signed in at the time — a link to your account, so it's clear who submitted it. If you were signed out, it's stored with no link to any account.
Feedback can't be read back through the app by anyone, including you; the MyTechExplorer team reviews it directly. If you later delete your account, a feedback message you sent while signed in is kept — the message itself is not deleted — but the link to your account is removed, so it becomes indistinguishable from feedback sent anonymously.
No advertising, tracking, or analytics
In this version of MyTechExplorer, there is no advertising, no analytics or tracking SDK, and no cross-app or cross-site tracking of you. Your data is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising purposes. The Settings screen has notification-preference toggles, but there is no working notification delivery system behind them yet in this version — nothing is sent to you as a result of them.
Third-party providers
Running MyTechExplorer relies on three third-party providers: Supabase (account authentication and database hosting for everything described above), OpenAI (MyTech AI's replies, as described above), and Vercel (hosting the application itself). MyTechExplorer's own deletion and retention practices, described below, govern the copy of your data MyTechExplorer controls directly. Each provider also processes data as part of operating its own infrastructure (for example, standard connection or request logs) under its own policies — MyTechExplorer doesn't control, and this page doesn't make claims about, that provider-side infrastructure processing.
Children's privacy
MyTechExplorer is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13.
Data retention
Your account and product data (onboarding answers, Tech DNA result, saved careers, path progress, Career Sim history) is retained for as long as your account exists, and is deleted through the account-deletion flow described below. Feedback you've sent is retained as described in the Feedback section above, including after account deletion. Local-only data (when you use MyTechExplorer without an account) is retained on your device until you clear it yourself or clear this site's browsing data.
Deleting your account
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account, or from the standalone page linked below — which also works without the app installed. Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes your onboarding answers, Tech DNA result, saved careers, path progress, and Career Sim history from MyTechExplorer's servers, along with the account itself.
Any feedback you've sent is kept but anonymized, as described above. Your device's local copy of your data is also cleared as part of this process.
International users
MyTechExplorer is available internationally, including to users in the European Union and the United States, and is processed through the providers named above. If you have a privacy question or want to exercise a request described on this page — including from outside the country MyTechExplorer's services are hosted in — contact support@mytechexplorer.app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change — check back periodically if you'd like to stay current.
