Information We Collect
MyTechExplorer works fully without creating an account. In that mode, nothing you do leaves your device: your Tech DNA answers and result, saved careers, career path progress, tried Career Sims, onboarding answers, and notification preferences are stored only in this browser’s local storage.
Creating an account requires an email address and a password. Our authentication provider, Supabase, stores your password in hashed form — MyTechExplorer never has access to it as plain text. Once you’re signed in, the same data listed above is stored on MyTechExplorer’s server instead, tied to your account, so it follows you across devices.
If you send us feedback through the app, we store the message you write, the language you were using, and — if you were signed in at the time — a link to your account.
How We Use Information
We use the information above to run the core product: syncing your Tech DNA result, saved careers, and career path progress across your devices when you have an account, generating MyTech AI’s replies when you choose to use it, and reviewing feedback submitted through the app.
MyTechExplorer does not run advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs, and does not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising purposes.
MyTech AI / AI Processing
MyTech AI is an optional in-app assistant available to signed-in users, limited to 15 questions per day. It’s built on OpenAI: when you send a message, the text you type is sent to OpenAI to generate a reply. A small amount of your MyTechExplorer activity is sent along so the answer is relevant to you — specifically your Tech DNA archetype and top dimensions (if you’ve completed the Tech DNA journey), the names of your saved careers, your active career path, and which page of the app you were on. Your email address, account identifier, raw Tech DNA answers, and detailed path/sim progress are never sent to OpenAI.
The first time you open MyTech AI, you’re shown what’s sent and asked to explicitly allow it before your first message goes anywhere. You can withdraw this permission at any time from Settings → MyTech AI data sharing, without affecting your account or any other data.
MyTechExplorer does not save your MyTech AI conversations — they exist only on your screen and are gone when you close the conversation or reload the app. OpenAI is called with response storage turned off (“store: false”) for the same reason. If you choose to type personal or sensitive information into a message yourself, that text is sent to OpenAI like anything else you type.
Third-Party Services
Running MyTechExplorer relies on three third-party providers:
- Supabase — account authentication and database hosting
- OpenAI — MyTech AI’s replies
- Vercel — hosting the application itself
Each provider also processes data as part of operating its own infrastructure (for example, standard connection or request logs) under its own policies — MyTechExplorer doesn’t control, and this page doesn’t make claims about, that provider-side infrastructure processing.
Data Storage and Security
Once you’re signed in, your data lives on MyTechExplorer’s server, hosted on Supabase. Database-level access rules (row-level security), enforced by Postgres itself, ensure only you can read or change your data. Your device also keeps a local copy of this same data for fast loading; it stays in sync with the server and is never the only copy that exists.
If you use MyTechExplorer without an account, your data lives only in this browser’s local storage and is never sent to a server.
Data Retention
Your account and product data (onboarding answers, Tech DNA result, saved careers, path progress, Career Sim history) is retained for as long as your account exists, and is deleted through the account-deletion process described below. Feedback you’ve sent is retained as described above, including after account deletion. Local-only data (when you use MyTechExplorer without an account) is retained on your device until you clear it yourself or clear this site’s browsing data.
Account and Data Deletion
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account, or from the standalone delete-account page, which also works without the app installed. Deleting your account immediately and permanently removes your onboarding answers, Tech DNA result, saved careers, path progress, and Career Sim history from MyTechExplorer’s servers, along with the account itself. Your device’s local copy of your data is also cleared as part of this process.
Any feedback you’ve sent is kept but anonymized — the message itself is not deleted, but the link to your account is removed.
For account deletion or a personal data request by email, contact support@mytechexplorer.app from the email address associated with your MyTechExplorer account whenever possible.
Children's Privacy
MyTechExplorer is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed at children under 13.
User Rights
If you have an account, you can view and update most of your stored data directly in the app — profile, saved careers, active career path, and Tech DNA result. You can request access to, or deletion of, your data at any time using the account-deletion process above or by contacting support@mytechexplorer.app. MyTech AI’s data-sharing permission can be withdrawn at any time from Settings → MyTech AI data sharing without affecting your account or any other data.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change — check back periodically if you’d like to stay current.
